Orange is a color you can find on only a few cars. Sonic and Cruze are some of them. But when you slowly climb up the expensive car ladder, there’s a huge lack of orange cars priced between Veloster Turbos and 2008 Gallardos. LEXUS however is someone that tries to bridge that gap (for me at least.)

Lexus’ RC F was released a couple of years ago with a color choice called Solar Flare.

Kinja'd!!!

Look at that fine orange. Can you imagine getting it cause you love orange and then immediately regretting it for the 5-7 years you’ll own it because you’re driving around a damn pumpkin

Now I hear everyone saying, EY YO, BMW offers orange on their cars like the Lime Rock M3 and that dark orange color now. Yes I see that, but my parents had the most awful experience with a 1998 328i we purchased from a family friend. (Love the car, but he didn’t tell us it was in an accident -_- and repairs went through the roof until we traded it for a lease on a GX470.) So if them being Asian didn’t make them hate German cars, that sure did.

So they’ve pretty much narrowed down the possible cars that can one day be picked up off the used market in orange to Toyota and Lexus. I’m placing the happiness of my first car into the hands of a company that can’t stop adding angles to a Prius.

I’ve pretty much been waiting for RC F prices to drop under $40k preferably $35k honestly. And my weekly Autotrader searches has been making me happy and then they release this.

Kinja'd!!!

I like sedans way more but this starts at like $30k more than the RC F so I’d have to wait an extra $30ks worth of depreciating time.

BUT GUESS WHAT LEXUS’ WEBSITE’S REFRESH FOR 2017 POPPED UP AS AN OPTION.

Kinja'd!!!

“OH YEAAAAH.” -That large fruit punch jug guy whose name escapes me at the moment.

Starting at $35k (and hopefully will depreciate at a reasonable rate) the NX200t F- Sport gets an option for orange this year and I am excited.

Until the NC Miata, the only factory orange Miata was Evolution Orange which only lasted for the 2000 model year and it was produced in low numbers. Only 644 produced, not counting the 2 press/prototype ‘99 cars.

Toyota offers an orange on a couple of their non-Lexus products as well.

You can get an orange Tacoma, Tundra, 4Runner, Prius C, Rav4, and I’m sure the ‘17 86 will offer a shade of orange, like the FR-S before it.

Chevrolet offers a shade of orange on the Colorado, Trax, Camaro, Corvette, and Cruze hatchback, along with the upcoming Bolt EV.

Between Dodge and Ram, there’s the Ram 1500 (and I’m sure 2500 and 3500s as well), Charger, Challenger, Dart, and Journey.

Nissan has the Murano, GT-R, Maxima, Titan XD, and I think you can still get it on the 370Z.

Even the cheap little Mitsubishi Mirage has a Sunrise Orange available.

I did not know there were even HALF as many as you listed available. WOAH. More cars on the road definitely need to be orange (in my opinion HAHAH.)

The Papaya RS4 remains my dream car. (The color also was available on the TT, but that sedan...)

I for one love Orange BMWs.

Kinja'd!!!

And I would do anything within my powers to convince them not to blame the car they got with a disputable history but the one that got it them in the first place.

And why would Asians hate German cars? And why are they deciding what your first car is gonna be? I’m confused.

Here yer go, at least you can have on this post. I feel all my friends in college want a sports car or a muscle car when they get out of college and I’m here looking at station wagons, large sedans and crossovers.

Maybe it’s just the area I’m from, but like the people my family hangs around all have Hondas, Toyotas, Acuras or Lexuses. VERY few BMWs or Germans. I think it’s cause one bad experience soils it for everyone cause like they ask for recommendations from them and then news travels to everyone.

1: Ey, I’m looking for a new minivan.
2: Oh I had an Odyssey and it had one problem that one time.
1: Oh ew. Sienna it is then.

For example, I remember Odysseys and Siennas being very equal numbers a couple years ago but I think definitely the Siennas did better of the last generation. So now most of them are Siennas now that they’ve reached that “10-year trading in for a new one” mark.

Oh and the parents picking the new car thing is from high school. They wanted me to go to a magnet school with completely new people but I didn’t really want to. So they said when I turned 18, they’d buy me my first car. And then they pushed it to college (since it didn’t make sense to get a car at the time anyways for our family) but then I didn’t get int0 a school I wanted to that was in state so I went out of state for college and I didn’t need a car, so they said when I graduate from college now.

Short story, it was a deal my parents made with me and I’m very grateful, but I kind of like strive for my parents’ approval in life. So whichever car I end up picking, I’d want them to think it was a good choice too.

Well, back to convincing them then. Get reports from the TÜV. BMWs are not that unreliable. Then again: Not much wrong with a Lexus ;-)

I’m pretty sure that Lexus color is called Molten Pearl.

I do not recall Solar Flare as one of our color options.

I’ve seen them go by both but I’ve never actually seen an article that describes the difference so I’m just very confused.

Yup. Our local dealer has a ‘16 GT in Orange with the black racing stripes that fade in and out over the car. It even has the manual trans plus optional 3.55 gears. I w-a-n-t it, but I know I don’t n-e-e-d it. V8 will cost 5 mpg over my current V6 right off the top, 3.55 gears will drop it even further and that beautiful orange would sear itself into the retinas of every law enforcement official that happened to glance in its direction. Nope, gonna have to hold out for a GT in magnetic gray with the stock 3.31's in it... :(

I don’t plan on parting with my car any time soon, but when the time comes I will consider a Mustang. I had an Ecoboost as a rental several months ago and waa impressed with how comfortable it was. There weren’t many things I didn’t like about it, though I too would want a GT.
